Yes – holiday time off is certainly not a right, even though many people make the assumption that it is.

A lot of companies use holiday pay to attract the best employees. But there is no law saying that a company has to do this.

And again, companies that don’t do this won’t have many happy employees, even those companies with employees who get paid working online from home.
That’s why some companies are better to work with than others.
Policies will differ on scheduled days off from one employer to another.
In some cases an employer will only pay for a holiday day if it occurs at the same time as a normal work day.
Others will provide their workers with an alternative day off when a holiday is the same as their scheduled day off.

If an employee normally works at night and requested to work on a holiday then they should receive their normal pay as well as premium pay for working on a holiday.

Small Businesses do not have to pay a Premium for Holiday work
If you work for a small business that generates less than $500,000 a year there is no legal obligation for the business owners to pay a premium if you work on a national holiday.
