Whether you are an affiliate marketing beginner or even a seasoned affiliate marketer, you will learn a lot from this article. It covers exactly how YOU or anyone else can get started in affiliate marketing, regardless of your experience or lack thereof.

You’ll not only discover the ins and outs of affiliate marketing but also three very easy ways to get started.

What Exactly Is Affiliate Marketing?

entrepreneur-1340649_640.jpg

In my own words, affiliate marketing is when you sell another person’s product in exchange for a commission.

Yes, it’s really as simple as that. Others might try to over-complicate it but it really is that simple.

You become an affiliate for the person and you get paid a commission when your efforts result in sales.

Thanks to technology, you use a special affiliate link that tracks when your efforts result in sales.

And everything gets handled automatically – the product owner gets paid and you also get paid your commission.

Why Affiliate Marketing For Beginners?

affiliate-marketing.jpg

There are many reasons why people, including beginners choose affiliate marketing.  One of the biggest reasons is that you do not need to create your own product.

Creating your own product can take weeks or even months. Apart from the time, it can cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

And there’s no guarantee it will make you a profit, or even make any significant money at all.

But with promoting other peoples’ products as an affiliate, the products are already created and everything is already done. You simply promote, make sales, and get paid your due commissions.

Another benefit with affiliate marketing for beginners is that you don’t have to worry about customer service, product fulfillment or even handling the payments.

The product owner does everything on your behalf. In fact you don’t even have to engage with the customers at all.

All you have to focus on is getting traffic to the product using your affiliate links.

And you can do all that as a beginner, with or without needing several years of experience.

What’s The First Step In Affiliate Marketing For Beginners?

6920161535_21c3af8287_z.jpg

The first step is to learn all you can about affiliate marketing. Thankfully there are lots of training courses online to help with this.

The training course I highly recommend is Kingged.com’s 30 Days To Affiliate Marketing Earnings.

As the name implies, it was created by this very site and can help anyone start making money with affiliate marketing within just 30 days.

Apart from the helpful video, audio and PDF guide to affiliate marketing contained in the program, it also provides you with exact step-by-step and day-to-day actions to take, to start earning with affiliate marketing within mere days.

After learning as much as you, the next step is to choose a niche for your promotions.  You want to consider two factors.

  1. Are you passionate about the niche?
  2. Is the niche profitable?

Maybe you collect vintage matchbox cars?  You are very passionate about your hobby.

However, there may not be a market for your hobby.

One great way of finding out if there is a market for your niche is to do a search on some of the marketplaces out there.

One of the oldest and most popular is the ClickBank Marketplace.

Navigating The ClickBank Marketplace

ClickBank is great because they list many products in numerous niches.  You want to search the ClickBank Marketplace and make sure that there are products in the niche that you want to focus on.

Also see the “gravity” of the products.  Try to pick niches that has products with a gravity of at least 10.

The gravity shows whether the products are actually selling.  Why promote products that no one is buying?

Choosing A Product To Promote

cash-register-1885558_640.jpg

We looked at ClickBank to see if there were products in your niche, but you don’t have to limit yourself to ClickBank.  There are many other affiliate platforms.

JVZoo

JVZoo – JVZoo is another very big player and lists many products in multiple niches.  They pay directly to your Paypal account.

It was first set up by marketers and doesn’t have the many types of restrictions that ClickBank and others have.

It’s also unlikely that you will get into problems with promoting as an affiliate on JVZoo. That’s unless you engage in fraudulent activities when it comes to promoting products on JVZoo.

What’s also nice about JVZoo is they allow product owners to offer higher commissions.  If you look closely enough sometimes you can even find products that offer 100% commissions.

(One of the reasons for such higher commissions? Some product owners are looking to create a “buyer’s mailing list” and don’t mind offering very high commissions because they know they can make more money over time with their mailing list).

CJ.com

CJ.com – Formerly Commission Junction, this affiliate platform also has numerous products in many niches.  You have to be approved to promote many of the products on CJ.com.

It’s one of the oldest platforms out there and has helped a lot of beginners make money with affiliate marketing.

When applying to promote on CJ, it helps if you tell the product owners how you will promote their product and assure them that you won’t be using spam marketing or black hat techniques.

Warrior Plus

Warrior+Plus – If you decide on the internet marketing niche, Warrior Plus has many products to choose from.  These offers usually have powerful, proven salespages that were created to convert.

Originally created for members of the Warriorforum, it has since evolved to allowing everyone to use its services.

You can register and start using Warriorplus right away.

Amazon

Amazon – You don’t have to stick solely to digital products.  Amazon has many physical products that you can sell in just about any niche you can imagine.

The beauty with promoting any product on Amazon is you still get credited for other sales that someone makes purchasing other products on Amazon… if they first used your affiliate links to visit Amazon.

You can start promoting a $7 product from Amazon and end up making affiliate sales on higher priced products that you didn’t even directly promote.

Amazon pays very low percentage per affiliate sale, but it can add up considerably if done right.

Affiliate Marketing For Beginners and Three Ways To Promote Your Affiliate Offers

Method #1 – The YouTube Method

youtube-2617510_640.jpg

This marketing method can be very powerful if done right.  You must be consistent though. It’s not a method for those who easily quit after the first attempt(s).

How does this work?

You’ve seen people create videos that go viral.  Often these people were never meaning to create a viral video.

They are not internet marketers.  They are not seeking attention but they just happened to create a video that became very popular.

You want to find videos like this.  You want to search the videos in your niche.  You can use the “advanced search options” in YouTube to filter by the most views or the most highly rated.

You want to look at the description of the video and make sure they are not linking to a website.

You then can message the video creator directly on YouTube.  For instance suppose you are in the dog niche and you found someone that has a dog video with over 25,000 views.

You can contact the person with a message like this:

Hi,

My name is ____.  I am a part time internet marketer.

I see you have a very popular dog video.  I was wondering if you would like to earn some extra income from your video?

If yes, please get back to me and I will send you more details.

Thanks,

[Your Name]

If the person responds, explain that all they have to do is recommend a link in their description.  The link that you will give them is your affiliate link that you will cloak with a service like bitly.

Explain that they will receive half of  any sales that you earn from the link.  All they have to do is post the link and a short description.

If you continuously find and contact many relevant people for this, you will be blown away at the results.

In ClickBank you can even add a tracking code.  Make the tracking code the name of the YouTube channel so you know which person to pay when you start getting some commissions.

Method #2 – Bing Ads Method

35107890391_e458bb3ceb_z.jpg

You can always buy ads to promote your affiliate program, if you can afford it.

In terms of buying ads, Pay Per Click can be a great marketing platform and Bing Ads isn’t too expensive.  You will want to create a large related keyword list.

A great tool for finding keywords is UberSuggest.

Set your bid price at 1% of your commission.  For instance if your commission is $25, your bid would be $0.25.

The idea is that most salespages are optimized to make at least one sale for every one hundred visitors.

You will want to start off slow so you don’t waste too much money.  Once you find a product that sells, try another product out.

If you send 100 clicks to a product without a sale, consider trying a new product.  This is trial and error, so do this slowly.

For more detailed information on advertising with Bing be sure to see my article on “Affiliate Marketing Without A Website” here on Kingged.

Create A Blog

blogging-15968_640.jpgIf you really picked a niche you are passionate about, creating a blog and filling it with articles will seem more like a hobby than work.

You need to know how to write or create content for the blog though.

And the entire process of getting a blog started, to making it successful, can take time though.

Sherman Smith, an author here on Kingged says that you should use the “80/20 rule.”  Spend some time writing a good article that people will want to read.

The article writing should only take up about 20% of your time.  The other 80% should be on promoting the article and your blog.,

Ways of promoting your blog are by guest blogging, commenting on other blogs, writing articles on sites like Kingged, participating in forums and optimizing your articles for search engine traffic.

I wrote a very comprehensive post right here containing really powerful yet simple blogging tricks and tips to help grow your blog in record time.  It should come handy for you if you want to get the best from blogging.

Some Final Thoughts

Okay, so you should have some ideas on getting started in affiliate marketing.  The ideas are not necessarily tricky but will take hard work and some patience.

Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see results right away.  It can take time to see the sales start trickling in, especially with blogging.

Overtime, the sales will become more consistent, as you continue doing more of the right things and taking action.

Make sure you learn as much as you can about affiliate marketing before and after getting started.

Once again, the training course I highly recommend is Kingged.com’s 30 Days To Affiliate Marketing Earnings. As the name implies, it was created by this very site and can help anyone start making money with affiliate marketing within just 30 days.

It contains video, audio and PDF training on lots of aspects of affiliate marketing that beginners will find very useful.

Most importantly, it also contains exact step-by-step action to take, to start making money with affiliate marketing within the first 30 days.

I hope this article has given you some practical tips for getting started in affiliate marketing and I hope it turns out to be a prosperous endeavor for you!

  1. Hi John,

    Thanks for writing this article.

I am surprised I found it really informative even though I am not a beginner when it comes to affiliate marketing.

I remember promoting products from Clickbank a long time ago but haven’t used them for a while. Are they still as popular now as they were before?

I think many marketers use warriorplus and jvzoo, glad you included them in this article.

I already added you as a friend here and look forward to more posts from you.

  2. Hi Abigail,

Thank you for reading my article. Glad you found it useful.

I think ClickBank will always be popular. There are especially good if you are promoting a non-IM related niche like diabetes or dog training.

I think I am already friends with you but if not I will accept the friendship.

    Have a great day!

    John

  3. This was so easy to read and learn from.

I like your idea of contacting YouTube publishers to promote. It will even work better if you pay some of them even before they put your affiliate links and also pay them from the sales generated.

I also just added you as a friend now and will proceed to read other posts from you.

  4. Hi Nathan,

Glad you found the article easy to read and learn from. I got your friendship request and accepted it. We are now friends.

Yes, you can pay the YouTube partners first. This is a better idea once you get your feet wet. If you agree to share the profits, the newbie will not lose money if the venture isn’t successful. So until you learn which videos will convert, the newbie might want to just share the profits and then pay outright a set amount.

Take care Nathan and have an awesome day!

    John
