Which is Best Social Networking Sites For Marketing Blog – CyberNaira

Avatar of Shamsudeen Adeshokan Submitted by Shamsudeen Adeshokan April 11, 2014 Website: cybernaira.com

With all the buzz/hype about how important social networking sites for marketing blog can easily drive free targeted traffic to your blog/websites, is easy for bloggers to get tempted trying to be in all these social networking places – marketing his blog.

While is quite obvious the important of these social gathering sites, is hard to keep up with their latest trends, tactics and strategies to get the best out of them for blog marketing.

And on top of all this; I believe each social networking sites has its own kind of audience – therefore, it will be almost impossible to find just a niche topic that fits into all these social gathering places.

    Hi Shamsudeen,

Well, out of the biggies- Facebook, Twitter and Google, I’ve been getting good results from Facebook. That is followed by Google + and then Twitter.

If you ask me, I’d say one must do a thorough ROI (Return On Investment) analysis on each of the social sharing platform. Like you mentioned, Google analytics makes this process real simple.

An ROI analysis should revolve around the time spent promoting and marketing a blog on the social site and the number of visitors you get in return of those efforts.

Out of the 3 biggies, ROI analysis in my case shows that Facebook and Google + returns maximum benefits (visitors wise).

Well, you posed some questions in the end. I’ll answer #1 and #3! :)

Facebook, my favorite networking site, has not only helped market my blog, it has also been a platform where I could very easily network with fellow bloggers! Like, I was chatting and being in touch with some very popular bloggers! Isn’t that wonderful! That has been a wonderful experience using Facebook.

And regarding the types of post getting good traffic- job related, bizarre/oddities articles. Such articles have been getting consistent traffic from Facebook in my case. An intriguing topic and a good image easily grabs visitors’ eyeballs and sends them to my blog :)

You’re right, I do agree that Facebook is very good for networking as I also have gain many of that on Facebook, especially with bloggers like.

And I believe also Facebook is good for getting post idea, as most bloggers community over there are full of topics you never even imaging; something I have been using often.

The types of post you mentioned that woks well for you on Facebook speak more volume of my observation; I have been wondering what will works and what doesn’t over there and am beginning to come close to my conclusion.

Good to hear you’re doing great over there at Facebook, thumbs up.

I never really got any traffic from facebook. I find that facebook is more for socializing and keeping in contact with friends and family. I find that I am receiving quite a bit of traffic from Kingged. I haven’t really been utlizing Linkedin as much but I am going to. I also found out that Google+ gets me a lot of interaction. I have gotten replies to my comments.

      Hi Maketta,

Facebook traffic to me, really depend on what type of content you share there. Like Arun said and to add more to it; news and entertainment content do perform well on Facebook, Job related, breaking news etc.

LinkedIn is good but based on experience, you have to join groups to really get the best of traffic coming from LinkedIn. But I believe it worth the headache as these people are really interested in learning something, or finding solution to a problem.

Good to hear your voice on this one, and thanks for coming.

Maketta, I am getting more and more traffic through the site but only when I aggressively work it. When I do not work it, things go South fast. FB is a high maintenance social networking site. People seem to forget you fast on FB if you do not post anything or engage over the course of a few days. I like hopping in frequently to see the greatest returns.

      Thanks!

    Hi Shamsudeen,
I think this post is a great reminder to slow down and look at analytics. We can all guess where we should comment, but instead of guessing we can see historical facts.

I like your comment “Surprisingly, I spent most of my time marketing my blog on Facebook more than any of these social networking sites. This tells me I have to start giving other social gathering sites more focus and time than what I have been giving – especially, kingged.com.”

I think we all get caught up in guessing. We get so busy commenting and reading and commenting and reading. So we continue. Then we read a post about a new place to visit that we may not have heard about before. Off we go.

But we really do need to slow down and look at analytics. Sure, we can try new things; we can go comment on posts because we like them. But we do need to spend time at places where it is a two way street: where we comment but also get traffic. Good post!

I think you are doing a great job here. You have moderators who comment and review posts for spam. It’s great!

I also like that you are doing this “coffee money”. I think it is fun for alot of people here. I believe the main theme is learning and building relationships but the coffee money is a nice extra.

I hope kingged.com is growing like you want it to!

Yes, the moderators are doing a great job. You can’t even begin to imagine the amount and type of spam they get rid of on a daily basis. Most of the spam get deleted within seconds/minutes after they are made. But it has to be done, to keep Kingged as clean as possible!

Yes, Kingged will grow far bigger than this in the coming months. I know that, not just because of what we have in the offing, but most importantly because of how much awesome Kinggers like you keep helping to make that happen!

      Thanks Brady,

Looking at Analytic once a while is a very good practice bloggers need to be doing – at least once in every months. This gives you a clear documentation of everything that has been happening on your blog…both within and outside of it.

And like you said, we guess a lot and guessing doesn’t kill the bird. You need to be precise and know exactly where and when to strike, in other to have the bird killed.

Hearing about new traffic channel and off we go is a very big problem that may take long to cure, and I tell you, only a few bloggers will conquer this plague.

But we do need to spend time at places where it is a two way street: where we comment but also get traffic.

Thanks for saying this, I love it most.

Social Network play a huge role to drive massive traffic to blogs. I’ve experienced that most of the traffics came to my site from social networking website specially from Facebook and Google+.

    My Strategy:

I joined many social groups related to my blog niche and posted useful information and also tried to solve the problems of group members. If you are able to solve the members problems through the group they will definitely visit your blog and if there are useful problem solving contents then there is a huge chance of getting subscribers.

I also posted some cool Infographics on such groups. Created discussion on various topics related to my blog niche. Also gave compliments to the one who is sharing his/her views on the form on reply. This will not only help to build up links with others in the same niche but also help to increase traffic via social media.

I regularly check my Google Analytics and visit those websites which Analytics have pointed out as the traffic source for my blog. This helps me to examine their activities and content . We can also get lot of content idea which our reader will love to read.

For Kingged.com, this is my new experience and will examine the traffic I can accumulate from it. I hope kingged.com will drive more traffic in comparison Facebook and Google+.

Hey Kingsley I dunno if I’m right but I think you should delete the comment of Prasanth too immediately so people won’t get confused and fooled about it.

Prashanth, good point! I checked my referrral traffic through Alexa a few hours ago. Guess who was #2? Pinterest. I just need to find better boards, to Pin, because I have few in my stream now. Too many kitten and puppy boards LOL!

Do you have any good boards for bloggers, or for making money online?

      Thanks!

Well said, I have never tested Pinterest, facebook, and had good results with twitter.

Can you confirm to me if the traffic converts into sales or $$ from Pinterest. I heard somewhere people are making money from Pinterest traffic.

Travel blogs are good for Pinterest because we can get good images to get attracted for users, but marketing blogs I can say it is hard.

I will try to use in the coming days along with Google plus.

Another stolen comment from the original blog post. That’s a shame, Prashanth… that you had to succumb to such lows, in an attempt to win in the giveaway, :(

You are of course disqualified from the giveaway!

I will leave this up for others to see, who might be attempting such. Like I have said repeatedly, we will find out if participants try to cheat and disqualify/ban them!

From what we can see, nearly all your other comments were just the same – BLATANTLY and SHAMELESSLY stealing comments from the original posts and pasting them here. We will delete all the others but leave these few up, since we responded to them, for others to see what shameful desperation you had succumbed to, :(

This article is about what is the best social networking sites for marketing as i read your whole article you said like every networking site has a different traffic. but you should specify the site what kind of traffic will send you. As i talk about pinterest you can get lots of high quality traffic for the food recipes and recipes tips related blogs. Then he or she can check your analytics after getting traffic. which one is best.

    • Avatar of Shamsudeen Adeshokan Profile

Thanks Kumar for pointing that out but it seems you didn’t get the basis of the post right.

It was a question I thrown to the reader, I needed readers feedback on which social networking sites has been great for them and you could see that at the end of the headline, a ? mark.

If you have read a few other comments on this post, you’ll see that they respond by sharing their experiences with their best social networking sites.

Hope this clearly explain what this post is all about? Thank you for coming and do have a nice day.

I am doing my best in here and I just checked to find 50 percent of my visitor’s are from kingged.com.

So here is the trick for me that worked. I used facebook but people were busy in taking selfie’s.

I headed to google plus but it is ice cold over there.

And finally I headed to kingged.com where people come to read blog posts. So this is perfect place for me.

      Hi Rohan,

Just like you, I have found out that most people on Facebook are busy updating their status, watching images, celebrating friends and families occasion and events pictures more than trying to better their livelihood.

Kingged for me is just the best place to be at the moment for any content marketers; people gathered here for a simple reason – read blog post and engage with the author, which is what we need most as content marketer.

Google+? Am still working it out to see how it can help improve the quality of my blog.

Thanks for the contribution, hope to see more of you here.

Hey Rohan its cool the kind of description you gave about Facebook and Google+.

But can you share some more tips to get better traffic from Kingged.com. Actually I post technology article and since technology section is posted very down on the site.

I don’t see even one visitor from the site. Even if my article gets featured on the first page I don’t get traffic.

Could you share some tips with me in PM to help me make better use of Kingged.com

      • Avatar of rohan bhardwaj Profile

        Abhishek,

It’s all about catchy title and great content. If you have something which no one else is providing then chances are people will click on it.

Now second thing is to have great content with some graphics so reader’s can enjoy. And a push for social networking.

Remember alway’s king your post and keep interacting. If you have something boring which only you thing is awesome then it will not rock.

Try asking some of your friends who are not much tech freak and seek their advice as many of your readers will be normal guys here.

Always be straight and simple and keep on sharing more article here. If you share your article here for 1 week continuously I am certain you will see results.

Remember one thing your link on right hand side is dofollow so it will help you anyway’s. Keep sharing.

      Hi Cool,

Though for some internet marketers, Twitter has been a great source of targeted traffic. Maybe it has something to do with type of content, large Twitter followers and frequency in twitting.

Something you might want to consider before giving your conclusion on Twitter. Forum is very good place also, but you’ll need to put in extra work there to really get the best out of it.

And in my opinion, all these takes time to happen. Thanks for your time spent reading my post, do have a nice day.

    Hi Shamsudeen,
For my blogs, Facebook have been the prime traffic source. Since I make use of tools like RT exchange sites, I also get a significant amount of traffic from twitter. Recently, I am getting good traffic from stumbleupon too. It have surprassed facebook and twitter referral clicks.

Pinterest has got nice potential if you are showcasing good images on blog posts. Some people have been extensively using it for getting traffic.

    • Avatar of Shamsudeen Adeshokan Profile

      Thanks Jakes,

Stumbleupon traffic have some kind of drama I really don’t understand; though, maybe due to my type of content anyway.

It bring instant rush but on the average, they’re most likely result in bounce traffic. Never engage with the content. I’ll be much pleased if you have any sort of good tutorial that gives a great deal on driving stumbleupon targeted traffic.

Yes, good images are good for pinterest, maybe a couple of reasons why travel blogs, food recipe and health blogs do perform well over at pinterest.

Thanks Jakes, and hope to hear back from you.

    • Avatar of Abhishek Profile

Right now on the Internet I see new blogger not focussing on StumbleUpon.

But I get respectable traffic from StumbleUpon. Its one article submission site I suggest after Kingged.com

Anyways Jakes, on an Internet research I’ve read there more female users of Pinterest than male users. So posting colorful and bright images on Pinterest can get lot of attention.

Just don’t post images longer than 2000px they tend to do bad there. I mean infographics because the research says women aren’t so ready to read infographs. They find them boring and time consuming according to the research.

I can’t find the link to the research roght now or else I would have pasted it here.

      • Avatar of Ryan Profile

Abhi, hands down, StumbleUpon is my new big traffic driver. Other sites might rake it in more but I’m adding the network to my list of must visit sites. Don’t forget too that SU is uber high PR and has serious metrics across the board. I snagged 1500 SU’s on a post just last week. Crazy. And it was during a few hours after I published.

      • Avatar of Jakes Profile

Lol. Abihshek. I agree with your point on pinerest. I guess Blogging is one industry women shouldn’t be complaining about getting equality rights.

I believe women blogggers are just more organized. And, that’s why they do exceptionally well in Pinterest. They know how to sort and creates boards in a more organised fashion. And, since it’s images and topics like interior design and similar topics reign there, it is really no wonder that the major audience there is woman.

If you take the case of twitter chats, most of the popular twitter chats in blogging niche are helmed by ladies.

    Hi Shamsudeen,
I have found Twitter and Facebook to the near the top as well as Kingged recently. I’ve also noted some other blogs where I leave comments draw traffic as well. I’m not so sure Facebook will remain in the top as the algorithm changes have really made a difference on how many are seeing the posts unless you pay.

    • Avatar of Shamsudeen Adeshokan Profile

      Hi Lisa,

      Good to see you here.

Facebook has really cut back on how many of your friends could see your page update, and that’s just another way to say “unless you pay for it, you can’t get it”.

What’s the essence of having thousands of likes, when only a tiny percentage of that would actually see your updates?

I think twitter and kingged are better compared to Facebook with many fun seekers on the platform. Nice seeing you Lisa, and hope we come across more often.

Hello Lisa, I feel Facebook is a boon for newbie bloggers. I receive a lot of traffic from Facebook. I think Twitter is a little complicated to get our tweets viewed because there’s so many tweets coming on and the best tweets gets lost in the way.

    Hello Shamsuden,

For any newbie blogger Facebook works well, I mean very well to bring in lot of traffic.

I get a lot of traffic from organic search and a lot more from Facebook too.

I’m still hoping to get traffic from Google+, Twitter and Pinterest.

    Even StumbleUpon works for me….

      Hi Abhishek,

Yes, Facebook is well great for traffic pulling, especially if your content is based around breaking news and entertainment, Gossip, adult related topics etc.

Many readers to this post gives pinterest 4 star for targeted traffic, though I too still struggling with pinterest traffic.

Google+ needs one to be very active there and really get in the discussion; create awareness and relate with experts, I think this works best over there.

Thanks for coming and do have a nice day.

Am thinking same way Ryan, Facebook traffic just don’t convert well and I think this people are too much in a hurry wanted some quick fix and don’t really spent much time.

Maybe due to lots of fun seekers over there at Facebook, you know that is just the primary reason of getting on that platform – to share the fun.

Google plus is more like of LinkedIn which brings together professionals from all sort of fields. These people are well interested in better their life and if you can provide something really good to meet that end, you will surely reap the reward.

Well lot of numbers on your blog is not a bad thing but it’s not good build your blog upon spamming your articles on the social networks.

It’s good to have a unique blog and also engage natural readers who constantly come to your blog to read or receive your posts upon successful subscription.

Personally I think social networks is meant for your lovely readers to share stuff with friend who they would also enjoy to read but not for the blogger to spam it around.

        Hi Shamsudeen,

If you read well into what I wrote you will get it…

You’re talking about the difficulties to strategize your blog content to fit all the social networks…

Now back to what I said before, as blogger even though you might find it difficult to find niche topic to fit all sort of social networks, I think it’s not “your” job to blatantly distribute your content on all the social networks.

Why don’t you let your lovely readers do that part because they would know how to distribute properly to who/whom it may concern.

To further buttress my point, you will definitely have different readers with different social network sign ups and they would decide where to share your content because if you the blogger try to do as such, you might be spamming.

So my advise is to just have a “unique” blog to have “unique” readers to also share it to “unique” people on “unique” social networks.

So at the end of the day it’s your readers who become natural blog marketers and knows where to make your article trendy.

        Nice meeting you @adeone79 :)

Now I get it very clearly and to be honest, you’ve really shed more lights into this article. Something I didn’t really look into when writing this post.

Is good when readers do shared the post, this shows the trust they have in your information and gives “you” the author some confident that your readers actually like what they’re reading on your blog and not just a fluke by you spamming social media sites – like you’ve just put it.

Am one of those who believe that blog readers are the best asset to help market a blog – word of mouth, social sharing, trust, building authority etc. All these, blog readers will make it possible.

Thanks Kingsley and very interesting meeting you, once again.
