Keep Visitors Coming Back

Facebook. A mobile phone. Email. How often do you check them? Many of us have developed habits around these services.

The triggers that help create these habits can be baked in to the design of websites. The obvious benefit of doing so is that if you create habits in your users, then you’re less reliant on new search visitors for traffic.

How To Build Habit Forming Products

I recently read a book called “Hooked: How To Build Habit Forming Products” by Nir Eyal. Eyal is an entrepreneur who has built and sold two start ups, including a platform to place advertising within online social games. He also writes for Forbes, TechCrunch, and Psychology Today about the intersection of psychology, technology, and business. This latest book is about how technology shapes behaviour.

The trigger note is key; post a spark, put something interesting out there. A simple trigger can pique interest, leading to the call to action which is noted.

Be relevant. Post stuff related to your niche. Images help, so do videos, but more than anything posting useful, helpful content grows your audience and sets off these triggers more quickly than any other strategy.

    Nice share!

How to keep my visitors coming back? I asked my self as I read your title post.

Rewarding your visitors after taking action from the instruction that you provided is a good tactic. This was practiced by many too. This share of tips isn’t new to me, nevertheless, the insight and content has so much information that made me stay longer.

The reward you can share to is the valuable information that your readers can get. Timely post!

The key is reward, every reader would want to know what is to be obtained from taking action on the trigger that you initiated…

Is it information, solution to a problem, just anything that will be of value to them… Once there is something that gives them that value, you have had them, they will always come back.. It is that simple..

    Lovely tips…

Getting more returning visitors than new visitors is a good indication for any website or online services. New visitors means they knew about you or about your website just now but returning visitors means they have visited before and since they liked your informations or service so they came back.

Peterd, you very beautifully mentioned about how to Keep Visitors Coming Back.
All these four techniques are amazing, specially “Inspire Action” and “Investment”.

you said very well that – Price is much more of an issue before they form a habit because they wonder if they will get value.

    Keep updating :)
