Simple Twitter Strategy With Immediate Results

Engage With Your Twitter Followers On A Regular Basis

By Alerting Them To Your Quality Content

When your engagement increases with your Twitter followers, you should enjoy these benefits:

  • More retweets, mentions, and likes
  • Higher Klout score
  • Stronger relationships
  • Increased authority status

.

You want to alert particular Twitter followers to your specific quality content that you know they will be interested in.

Here are 14 steps to take on a regular schedule that will assure you reach that goal and enjoy the above benefits.

(1) Turn off automated follow back

(2) Turn on email notification of new followers, likes, mentions, etc.

(3) Put those you follow into the appropriate folder based on their profile interests or website content.

The email folders shown below were set up, because I want to share niche blog directory list posts with new followers.

rsz_screenshot_2016-05-12_035459

(4) Record in a specific category the Twitter identity of designated new followers

I use Evernote to record this data

I set up a notebook called !! Social Media and !! Tweets @ is the title of the relevant note:

BOOKS
@abc @def
FOOD
@ghi @jkl @888
MOMS-WOMEN
@mno @zyx @222 @922
MUSIC
@axx @991
DONE
@pqr @488 @119 @555
SPORTS
@stu @vwx @333 @739

Just add the Twitter ID of chosen new followers to your Evernote list

(5) Set up a !! Tweets note in your Social Media notebook.

(The !! is included in the title to push it to the top of an alphabetized list).

(6) Record tweet headline complete with bit.ly url (or your favorite shortener)

(7) When you have 4 Twitter IDs in the same category, copy and paste them at the end of the relevant tweet you have saved. Publish your tweet.

The DONE notation (see #4 above) indicates that you have published a tweet with those IDs immediately below included.

(8) Sample Tweet
http://bit.ly/223XOGr Moms-Women Blog Directories @mno @123 @456 @789

The Twitter IDs would normally be those of moms or women that have followed me.

(9) Be sure to include a relevant image with your tweet

(10) Put retweets, likes, and mentions from followers included in your tweets in a designated folder

(11) From the above folder make a list on Evernote of the Twitter ID, plus any blog/website url

These are the priority individuals that you want to build relationships with. You have already stated to build authority status with a valuable tweet that got recognized.

(12) Once you have included followers in a tweet and they have retweeted, mentioned, or liked the tweet, visit their blog and add a meaningful comment on a relevant post.

If the site is an ordinary website, tweet a link to quality content. Include their Twitter ID.

(13) Visit 1-3 followers sites EVERY DAY as part of a daily work routine.

Over the long-term this approach is guaranteed to build relationships, increase your authority status, and multiply the retweets and backlinks to your own quality content.

(14) Get in the habit of recording all tweets on Evernote. Add new tweets to the top of your existing list to avoid having to scroll down a long list to find newer tweets.

When you encounter an influencer in your niche, it is just seconds worth of effort to copy and paste a tweet of your high quality, relevant content with that individual’s Twitter ID attached.

This effort can be the first step in a successful effort to build a relationship with someone with a strong presence in your niche.

A sample from my Evernote tweet list:

http://bit.ly/1Rf4obh Music Blog Directory List

Its so easy to use this technique when you have a ready inventory of previous tweets available leading to quality content.

Start today building your relationships and authority status. No excuses!

      Hi Celine:

Glad you found the post content helpful.

An additional strategy you should have in your Internet marketing arsenal is to create valuable content with particular limited number of individuals in mind.

Link to your special content in a tweet and include their Twitter IDs in the tweet.

The special content you create could be a simple reference to new valuable resources that you know your target audience will definitely be interested in.

With the pace of innovation going at lightening speed you will never run out of opportunities to employ this strategy.

START the relationship building process any way you choose, but this a proven method to get the ball rolling.

      Best of success.

Awesome tips, thanks for the info. I’m kinda new to using twitter. Hoping to build my following up. I’ve been sort of sticking with FB for the past few years, but, expanding my horizons. This post helped me out a lot!

      Hi Rick:

Glad you are ready to expand your Internet marketing arsenal.

My suggestion for your personal situation is to find the Twitter IDs of individuals on Facebook that you interact with or desire to build a relationship with.

When you CREATE or ENCOUNTER valuable content that you know is relevant to their interests, link to it in a tweet and include their Twitter IDs.

Also, make sure your Twitter profile is filled with your most valuable keywords (no hashtags) since most Twitter resources are keyword based when it comes to suggesting new followers.

    Hi Robert,
Increasing Twitter retweets, mentions and likes is simple with the techniques you laid out so well. There is something to be done, even if it is little, to increase Twitter conversions.

I so much like this point:(7) When you have 4 Twitter IDs in the same category, copy and paste them at the end of the relevant tweet you have saved. Publish your tweet.

    • Profile photo of Robert A Kearse Profile

      Hi Sarah:

Sorry, I did not post this reply correctly the first time.

I appreciate your comment. I, also, would like to add that you can tweet OLD high quality blog posts with this technique, especially if they have an evergreen character.

If you have the same tweet that you want to bring to the attention of many specific individuals, use a free resource like Tweet JukeBox where you can schedule posts to go out as often as once every five hours.

      Best of success.

    Interesting post, Robert.

I never thought about putting tweeters into lists and tweeting out to them this way, I can see how it would really drive up the engagements.

I do a lot of Twitter marketing and get about 3k-6k impressions per day. I bet putting everyone onto a list would really drive up my engagement!

    Thanks!

    Hey Robert,

These are some great tips to not only be organized but to work smart.

Especially if you’re someone that doesn’t have a lot of time. Making the best use of the time you have is vital, and having an already made list of targeted Twitter IDs in specific niche lists will be more beneficial.

Thanks for the share Robert! Have a good one!

    Hi Robert,
Its not always easy making the most from Twitter without solid engagement.

Every social media marketer must do the needful when it comes to Twitter management and marketing.

The technique and steps of increasing Twitter retweets and mentions are a function of good engagement.

Therefore, the Twitter management must seek to post valuable comment and improve user experience to increase engagements!

    Hi Robert,
The secret to successful increased Twitter retweets and mentions is discipline.

This is necessary to ensure that the social media marketer observe the best practices that would increase engagements.

If there is a ‘disciplined’ attitude to follow all the above mentioned techniques then there is bound to be increased engagement and result.

    • Profile photo of Robert A Kearse Profile

      Hi Carl:

RE:The secret to successful increased Twitter retweets and mentions is discipline.

Yes, Carl. Discipline is a very important factor with Twitter marketing.

I use a paid version of Tweet Jukebox to automate the posting of tweets.

The free version allows as many as 5 tweets per day.
Also, tweets can be scheduled over many days, weeks or months.

You can schedule the same tweet to go out at different times on successive days, which is important, because on average only a minority of your followers will see a particular tweet in their tweet stream.

So disciplined, repeated tweets of quality content is a key to improved retweets and mentions.

      Best of success.

    Hi Robert,

Twitter is a peculiar social media platform. Hence, the marketer must ensure the best practices are followed to gain the optimal result.

The techniques you have shared are not new but implementing them should be more important for the marketer.

I think tips 10 and 11 are very crucial:

    (10) Put retweets, likes, and mentions from followers included in your tweets in a designated folder

    (11) From the above folder make a list on Evernote of the Twitter ID, plus any blog/website url

These are the priority individuals that you want to build relationships with. You have already stated to build authority status with a valuable tweet that got recognized.

    Hi Robert

Thanks for providing these great strategies for improving twitter marketing!

I have been looking for ways to improve my marketing efforts on Twitter. I really like your ideas on putting their profile interests or website content in separate folders and the idea of adding a relevant image to each tweet.

I highly enjoyed reading your post keep up the good work.

    • Profile photo of Robert A Kearse Profile

      Hi Winford:

RE:”…the idea of adding a relevant image to each tweet.”

I don’t know if you are aware of the source of high quality photos and images that require NO ATTRIBUTION called Pixabay

Since Pixabay has a search function you can enter keywords relevant to your blog content and often come up with an extensive selection from which to choose.

Initially, when I discovered Pixabay, I spent 15-30 minutes EVERY DAY downloading to keyword labled folders pictures I could use on my blog or with tweets.

Since I always seem to be fighting a deadline concerning when I want to get a post done it is extremely valuable to have a ready inventory of relevant images handy.

May I suggest you regularly collect images relevant to ALL your blog categories, such as blogging, email marketing, lead generation, or video marketing, etc.

For sure, your tweets will provoke more interaction with relevant images attached.

      Best of success.

For sure you want to add Twitter to your Internet marketing arsenal.

I looked at your Twitter profile, and to build up your Twitter followers you should have a profile heavy in relevant keywords that fit your Internet focus (no hashtags needed).

Most Twitter resources that suggest followers are keyword based so if you have the right keywords you will start to accumulate followers automatically.

Be sure to set your Twitter account for email notification of new followers.

Retweet links to quality content on a regular basis.

    Hello Robert,

Thanks for sharing these handy tips! I found it very useful!

Especially I agree with the very first tip on switching the follow back off.

I don’t like when people follow back everyone who follows them just to increase the amount of followers.

And what irritates me the most is when there is an automatic message or twit welcoming the new follower as it is so fake!

So it is better to stay conscious with these automatic following functions.

    • Profile photo of Robert A Kearse Profile

      Hi Krystsina:

      Thanks for your input.

RE:”And what irritates me the most is when there is an automatic message or twit welcoming the new follower as it is so fake!”

I, also, find this very irritating. It is a huge waste of my time in most cases opening, reading, and discarding these automated “thank yous”, or “sales pitches”.

I read these Direct Messages, because in some cases the individuals invite me to connect on Facebook or Linkedin.

Are there any type of Direct Messages you have received that had a positive impact?

        Thanks for your reply, Robert!

I can’t say that there was at least one automatic Direct Message that had a positive impact.

Once I’ve got a message that looked not as the rest of automatic messages, and I thought that it is a quite real message. I replied, and we had a quick conversation that was quire interesting. Then, in some time, I unfollowed this person by mistake, and followed him back again – and again, I got exactly the same message like the first time, full of interest to my personality.

Therefore I don’t find anything positive in such things.

    Yes, Krystsina:

It is kind of depressing when you get a message that seems personalized to you individually, and it turns out to be a pre-packaged automatic message.

But, if the sender is answering your replies, the ensuing conversation can have considerable value. At least in being the initial steps in building a genuine, beneficial relationship.
