How To Effectively Use Facebook Groups To Succeed Online

Facebook-Groups

Answer this question, why did you join that Facebook Group?

As I sit here drinking my coffee and writing this post, I have come to realize that becoming a part of a Facebook group has been one of the most important decisions that I have unknowingly done. Yes! I confess! It was a total accident. I can say this, because I started my online business adventure early this year and one of the main reasons why I am succeeding today is because of the Facebook groups that I have joined.

When I joined these groups, I did not know what to expect nor what to do. But the Facebook groups that I find myself spending the majority of my time in these days, are groups where we learn from each other, by sharing our experiences. This brings me to my first point, Facebook groups should contribute to your success by creating an environment where everyone learns from each other.

What Usain Bolt, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg and Others Successful People Have In Common

When you seriously take the time to think about it, most of times if not all, individuals who have experienced success had a team behind them:

Usain-Bolt

Usain Bolt won 6 gold medals in the Olympics and believe me, he had a team behind him, which included his coach Glenn Mills[1], his sports agent Ricky Simms[2] and the rest of the Usain Bolt team[3].

.

Mark_Zuckerberg

Even Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Ronda Rousey, and Warren Buffett had people around them as they made their way to achieve success.

Name any individual  in the pass or today that has achieved  a prominent successful status, and you will find that person was or is surrounded with people that supported them. So make it clear your team could be you mother, wife, best friend or a coach.  And this is the type of Facebook group that you should want to belong to

Do Facebook Groups Play Other Roles?

Yes! But if you are using Facebook groups to network with others or to promote your business, then you need to find several or at least a couple of Facebook groups that create a supportive and learning environment.

In order to find a Facebook group like this, you simply need to take the time to read the description of the group and read the rules of the group which is usually posted on a  “pinned post”.

Before Joining Any Facebook Group

In any Facebook group that you join, you should always make it a point to not only read the description, but read the the “pin post”, the “files” and even go through the pictures and the videos that members have posted in the group. By doing this you can clearly see, what to expect from the group and what is expected from you.

Out of all the types of Facebook groups you join, you want to find yourself spending the majority of your time in groups where you are getting support and gaining helpful knowledge.

How Are You Spending Your Time On Facebook?

Since I started my online business adventure the role of Facebook in my life has changed significantly. Yes! I still read my family and friends postings for leisure, but if I were to calculate the amount time I do that, it’s not so much time, as compared to interacting with members in a Facebook group, where I am learning something that is going to help me grow my online business.

Hands down! I’m reading more about new funnels, new traffic sources, and new ideas that people are sharing. On top of reading I’m interacting with people in these groups that can and have become clients. All I’m doing is contributing to the group by expressing my opinion, teaching the new members and helping anyone in any way I can.

The Type of Facebook Groups To Join

Facebook groups that support you and help you learn should be made up of individuals who are willing to share with you their ideas that can help guide you to success. Good or bad! The stories they share should be a learning experience for you and the group.

And the group should be structured in a way, where people feel comfortable sharing ideas and asking any question. But in order to have this type of group, the group needs to be made up of several types of members.

The Type of Person You Should Be To Get Results From Facebook Groups

It’s my opinion there is no member who is more important than another member. If you find yourself having this type of attitude, you simply need to change your attitude. Matter of fact you need to realize, that it’s not about you.

Your attitude should be, what can I do to contribute to this group, instead of what can this group do for me or am I going to get members in this group to do A, B, C. People will quickly figure you out and the word will quickly get around to keeping a safe distance from you. Or the administrator of the group will simply remove you from the Facebook group.

The Type of Members You Need In A Facebook Group

The members you do need are members from different levels of success in the industry that you are involved in. You need members that have succeeded in the area that you are wanting to succeed.

In our Facebook groups, we have at least three members or more who have succeeded in an online business opportunity or opportunities that have made them six figures a year and they all are all willing to share what has helped them get to that level, by not only sharing their knowledge but also sharing some key tools that are needed to succeed in an online business opportunity.

They share their capture page designs. They share their email swipes and their solutions getting traffic. And you don’t even have to sell the same product or be in the same companies that they promote.

How cool is that?!

social-networking

Even Newbies Can Gain A LOT From Facebook Groups

Then you have beginners like me, who have been blessed and are experiencing success in a short amount of time. I have only been doing my online business adventure for 8 months or less and I already have established an advertising budget that does not come out of my pocket but is paid for by my profits.

And since most of my profits at this time goes to paying for advertisements, I will say at this time, I seldom pay myself. I am currently purchasing 600 to 1000 clicks per week to promote my businesses and my goal is 5000 clicks a week. On top this I am also learning and doing the work to getting more free traffic.

As I am working towards this, I also share my capture page ideas. I also share my email swipes and email titles with the members of the Facebook groups. By doing this I have learned where to buy solo ads and where not to purchase solo ads. Plus I have  learned and continue to learn how to get free traffic.

Then you have people joining the Facebook groups daily and you get the questions of how do I start. I just finished setting this up but it doesn’t work…etc. And these people are important to you as well, because the old theory of first you learn it, then you put it to practice and then you teach it to another person comes in. If you can’t answer the questions that beginners are asking or you don’t take the time to answer them, then you are not growing as a leader nor are you going to be recognized as a leader.

Why Did You Join That Facebook Group?

Yes, why did you join that Facebook group? The answer is simple. You joined that Facebook group for one reason, so you can be a part of a team that will help you succeed at all levels. Better yet, I hope these people will become your friends and not just team members. Believe it or not, some of us in the group have already taken trips to visit each other.

Lastly…

Always keep in mind people are going to be at different levels in the Facebook groups that you join but they are all working to achieve a goal that is important to that person’s life and their family. So no matter what level a person may be in, we can all learn from each other.

I hope you enjoyed the read and remember to connect with me on Kingged.com and Facebook.

Until next time Be blessed and live to bless others.

    Hi EltonCarr,
Yes, the importance of Facebook groups cannot be overemphasized. Facebook groups brings about online success easily. This is most important if you join the right groups and engage and learn from them.

A Facebook group, for me, promotes targeted audience. A marketer can get targeted audience for a particular product if he joins the right group.

This type of group is like a forum where people of like minds interact, learn, and solve problems for one another!

Interesting epic article, I must say!

Facebook groups help to nurture customer relationships, to follow up with customers or help them if they have questions because Facebook Groups are created and is for dedicated customers.

On the other side Facebook plays a huge role in marketing. It helps businesses leverage sales, traffic, reputation, brand and their growth. There are opportunities in Facebook when it comes to marketing. It would be possible only if marketer will join the right group on the said social media platform. But this can also apply to other websites that also has a list of groups.

The article unveiled effective tips on how to succeed online using Facebook Groups. Let me add that before you’ll join a certain group on Facebook, identify first your goal.

    Hey Elton,

I first got my traffic from Facebook groups. I was in a blogging group where we shared strategies, ideas and each other’s content.

Just from this support group, I’ve gained traffic and subscribers to my blog. I didn’t get any sales until I started using solo ads and PPC, which of course, I found out about them through facebook groups and blogging.

But yes you’re right about coming in with the mentality of how you can contribute to the group. This goes with the Law of Reciprocity. Whatever you give comes back to you.

Thanks for sharing Elton! Have a great day!

    Hello Elton,

I get most of my comments from a facebook group that I am in. You share your blog posts. I also have been able to receive and give some helpful advice from these groups.

You are right about finding the right facebook groups for you to join. Since, I am an internet marketer and blogger I join these groups.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

      Hello Maketta,

Thank you for taking the time to comment! Great idea; to share your blog post in your Facebook groups. Unfortunately for me, my groups don’t allow self-promotional postings, because there is an ABSOLUTILY no spamming or cross recruiting rule in each of them. But most of the members in the groups become my friends on Facebook and see me sharing my blog post on my wall, so it works out fine. And again my primary purpose is not to promote my blog or anything else, it is really about wanting to learn more from others.

Enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend,

      Hello David,

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment!

Yes! It does help when the group is small and they are working towards the same specific goal. But with that being said, it can also be too small. As a musician, smaller groups work great but as a social marketer who primarily promotes Biz-opts, I prefer bigger Facebook groups, where there is daily activity of people at different levels. Because when the people I refer to the Biz-opt join the Facebook group, they seem to be reassured that it isn’t a “scam” especially when people are genuinely sharing their stories within in the group.

Now if you find a small Facebook group with very active members that definitely will always out weight larger Facebook groups in value.

      Enjoy your week,

I agree top a point, and certainly recognize that distinction. There is one group I am in that has thousands, but I think there are only a couple hundred who are active. Still, that is pretty big. But that group is more for promotion than for discussion, so it makes sense.

To me, what counts is not how big the group is in total number of members, but how big the group is in active members. And to have meaningful discussion and help and interaction, I find that typically means fewer than 50 active members.

          Hello David,

Totally agree, active members with meaningful discussions is awesome.
And every group is different and it does not depend on the size, it really falls back on it’s members and the goal of the group.

I’m starting to see there is a lot more to this subject than I realized.

    Hi Elton!

I must admit, when I read the title of your post here – I thought you were going to talk about Facebook Groups to promote your business, products and services lol

But I get what you mean here.

There are many Facebook groups where you just support each other and learn from each other – whether you work together in a business or not. I run a few facebook groups like that myself.

It really helps a lot of people in the industries.

But I think Facebook Groups in general are very helpful – even those who are only to promote!

    Great topic here man.

    Keep up the great work!

Facebook groups are a great way to network and learn from others in the same industry as you – it’s like an online Mastermind.

I also find that creating and running Facebook groups is much more powerful than having a Facebook fanpage because posts made on fanpages are hardly ever seen on the newsfeed these days, the reach is miniscule. With Facebook groups that I’m part of I always see group posts popping up on my newsfeed, it’s really a faster and more effective way to reach an audience.

Lately, it might be hard to form relationships with people where you get to Learn from one another since most Facebook groups these days are filled with spamming links.

So far, I’ve been added to hundreds of groups without my consent and think they’re becoming a nuisance.

These days, some Facebook groups are solely driven with people whose aim is to find another traffic source. But I’ll like to believe that such groups where one can interact with other members who’ll later help can still be found but rare I guess.

      Hello Grace,

Thanks for taking the time to comment! I really appreciate it.

If you are in biz-opt or any online business, eventually you realize that people are connecting with you to network. Sometimes that remains an all business type of relationship and sometimes it grows into more than just business.

Most legit Facebook groups that are created for not “spamming” will create a “pinned post” that specifically states that, as well as state the reason the group was created.

It doesn’t really matter for me if people add me to groups. Unless it frequently gets into my feed a lot, then I usually leave. I will have to say people have found me because I was added to another group.

I block people who spam my wall on Facebook.

I will have to say, when you finally meet someone who you met on Facebook, it becomes more real. And that is how I met my new friend Josh Nestorov, who I talk to on a regular bases now: In person, texting, Facebook and on the cell phone.I forgot to mention I met him June of 2015 in a Facebook group that was created for spamming and he just happen to live in the same area as I do. I just met him in person sometime last month.

Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful week,

Yes, Facebook group is very powerful for successful Facebook marketing. Joining this group and doing the right engagement with the right persons is important.

To succeed online, associating with the group that will spur your progress is important. With Facebook Group, this becomes a reality.

Thus, the key to success with Facebook Group is joining the right group. This is fundamental!

      Thanks Winford,

For taking the time to respond, Here is a short update. Facebook just like the internet rapidly changes. All my positive Facebook groups that existed when I wrote this post are long gone. But I am in new ones that are pretty much made up of the same people.

Overall, being in the Biz-opp niche, most of my active sign ups came in this order. Majority of them came from Facebook, followed by Youtube and I have yet to get any active signs up in any of the others. But Solo Ads equal the combine amount of active sign ups from Facebook and Youtube. And as I write this, I can also say; most of my Solo Ad sign ups lasted at most 3 months before quitting.

    Hi Elton,

Joining Facebook group is an important strategy to succeed with social media marketing. It is important that the individual put in their best to get the best. Any group that is joined must be that which readily offers value. However, I agree with you on this point:

Your attitude should be, what can I do to contribute to this group, instead of what can this group do for me or am I going to get members in this group to do A, B, C. People will quickly figure you out and the word will quickly get around to keeping a safe distance from you. Or the administrator of the group will simply remove you from the Facebook group.

    Hi Elton,

Any Facebook group is an opportunity to expand our online adventure. This is especially when we join the right group. This association would bring about the needed engagement that may propel sales.

I have been active in a group that is related to my niche and I have not regretted my decision ever since 😀

    Hey Elton,

I am of the opinion that if we know the reason we join Facebook Groups then we can diligently plan for getting results.

Using the power of Facebook groups for online success is real. It is a function of associating with the right group for improved benefits.

I agree with you that contributing positively to the group and providing value would be the spur for our own success.
