Here’s How Jon Morrow Writes

Profile photo of tanya Submitted by tanya January 14, 2014 Website :

Pat was alarmed when her son wasn’t crawling by age one. So, like any good mother, she took him to see the doctor.

After a long examination, the doctor diagnosed baby Jon with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). That meant instead of getting stronger as he aged, Jon would get weaker. Eventually he would get pneumonia and die.

The doctor, who said he was being generous, gave him until two years old to live.

Pat, however, would have none of that.

She — and a cadre of medical staff, family, and friends — fought to keep him alive.

Jon did get pneumonia. 16 times. But because of their hard work, he survived, and at 31 Jon is one of the oldest people alive with SMA.

Jonathan Morrow is pretty a funny fellow. He brought in a lot of humor in this interview but its particularly interesting to learn of how he writes. One takeaway for me is his advice for new writers:

The most valuable things I could tell a beginning writer wouldn’t make any sense, because knowledge is viewed through the lens of experience. Without that experience, the knowledge is worthless.

. More so, the story of how succeeded in spite of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is inspiring!

  • The above qoute by Morrow clearly explanined my journey in the blogosphere. When I first started out with this crazy thing called “blogging”, writing became the most difficult ask for me.

I keep wondering where all these bloggers get something to say. As time pass by and events unfolding, writing became one simple task and fun for me.

My biggest problem now is traffic, I hope with time this too will become a thing of past.

Nice interview. The way Jon Morrow answered definitely shows that he knows what he’s talking about and that he’s confident and happy with what he does.

Especially interesting is how strict he is when it comes to following schedules and rules like how he follows through his productive times of the day. I never really thought that’s possible, but I think I’ll seriously try that out from now on.

I also agree that most successful people went to “extremes” to be where they are right now. And Jon Morrow’s no different in that sense.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

Jon Morrow is a master. Truly an incredible person that has done so much despite physical shortcomings. If you can’t find motivation from him, I not sure if you have a pulse.

Everyone should read this article, probably a few times.

    What an inspiration!

It takes a ton of motivation and self-determination to succeed as Jon did.

I chuckled a little when he said he’s been traveling so much that he doesn’t look for any new vacation spots. That’s inspiration right there!

I find it amazing how he’s been able to write for such popular blogs. I know it must have been hard work to get on those.

The amount of reading he does is definitely done another level than mine.

This year, my goal is to do a lot more research through the more reading I need to do.

Great post to learn from today.
