Back in 2008 a friend and I were very actively creating and uploading videos to our ‘joint-owned’ YouTube channel.

What started as just a hobby quickly grew into more of an obsession as our video game channel grew to over 3,000 subscribers in just a couple months.

While that seems like a shadow of the amount of subscribers on popular channels nowadays, that really was a pretty….

I am getting into monetizing youtube just now. It seems easier to rank for keywords on YT versus on your blog, without stressing over SEO.

Good points all around. I am publishing 1-2 posts daily video style so I am moving in the right direction.

Yeah I’ve seen a couple of your videos and I was wondering why you hadn’t started monetizing them yet!

That’s good though that you’re starting to do it. Since you’re uploading on such a frequent basis you could really start to bring in some decent earnings as everything keeps building up.

Thanks for the comment Ryan, I always appreciate when you stop by man

I have a couple of videos on Youtube and they are monetized too. I make a couple of bucks from them from time to time, i have always wished to add more videos but i haven’t had much time to make more videos. I will most definitely resume my plans for Youtube and see how i can start making good money from it.

      Hi Nwosu,

Yeah Youtube really is a another great source to steadily build up some Adsense earnings. I know what you mean about not having time for videos though. It’s easy to get caught up doing other things and forget to upload a couple videos every now and then.

I appreciate the comment man, hope you’re doing well :)

Thanks for the post Josh. I didn’t see a link for your YouTube channel to follow, unless I totally missed it. Even though it’s so big, I think YouTube remains somewhat untapped. I’ve seen the power it bring for rankings indeed.

I have to dig into creating videos in an efficient manner. I can’t be spending 5 days to produce a video. That’s my achilles.

Will definitely take a closer look into your site when I get a moment.

    Best Regards,

      Hey Steve,

I actually have a couple Youtube channels. The one that I’m currently uploading to is my vlog channel and I’ll warn you some of my videos are a little over the top. I went through that ‘upload a random video for fun’ stage a while back and really need to clean up the channel a bit.

My second channel is the one I started with my friend, but we both have been pretty inactive on that as both our interests have changed.

My Vlog channel is under my name and so searching ‘Josh May’ in Youtube should bring it up.

My video game channel is under the username ‘Hsoj Tan’.

And the Youtube editor really is pretty decent for editing videos. Youtube also has a free Youtube Capture app that is good for editing videos on an iphone.

While I still occasionally use Final Cut Pro and After Effects, they certainly aren’t necessary and other options will significantly cut down on render times.

I appreciate the comment Steve, thanks for stopping by :)

Thanks Josh. I subscribed to your channel.

Thanks for the info in your comment that a video can be produced respectfully with the YouTube tools. That’s good to know.

Also have your Survey .pdf in front of me from joining your mailing list. Have actually been testing some things out recently in that vertical. Might create a site with reviews, best practices, etc. after some testing.

    Thanks for everything today :)

      Of course Steve!

I have a couple paid traffic campaigns myself in that niche and they’re doing alright. It really is a pretty lucrative niche because it really can help out a lot of people and it converts alright. The downside is that some of the offer payouts aren’t the highest and I’ve had some difficulty scaling it.

Best of luck though man with your efforts and I hope the eBook can help you get your site up and running! :)

It seems to be a total grind indeed Josh. Like a lot of other niche plays, referrals are probably the best play. I’d be happy to register on any survey sites you’re involved in so you get the referral dollars.

Just shoot me an e-mail or DM. Thanks.

    Hi Josh,
One of most useful post regrading making money with youtube. I really love what you said about monetizing videos with adsense is must.

I personally experience the CTR percent. It is 90% much better when compared to my monetized websites as you mentioned.

Video marketing….hmmmm I am really poor in this. And no tutor or time to spend on learning all this amazing stuff.

    Thanks for sharing

      Hi Tharun,

Yeah CTR’s from Youtube really are a lot better!

And I know what you mean about video marketing being somewhat difficult. Youtube really is a little different medium than other social media networks, but once you continue using it I’m sure you’ll be a pro in no time :)

      Thanks for the comment Tharun

    Hi Josh,

The popular saying that “picture speaks better than a thousand word” applies with video marketing. This should be a good reason for one to start thinking of making money with YouTube.

Nevertheless, its all important to learn of the technicalities of video marketing, which are bit different from text marketing!

Its still important to know that creating and sharing VALUABLE videos on YouTube at the right time and for the right audience would always make the difference.

    Great reasons, I must remark!

Very good points Sunday. Most of the videos that succeed on Youtube only do because they truly are creating value for the viewer.

And I like the quote you mention also.

People really do relate better with images (or moving images) than they do to just words. As such, Youtube really is a unique place to connect with others and ultimately pull in some extra money.

Thanks for the comment Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

Youtube is an easiest way to make money online, and forever. I had tried in the past with Travel videos, but not reached into 1000 views atleast one video.

You had well said, easy to rank, monetize with adsense different to website.

I agree the above two points seen with my past experience. It is one of the best method to make money online.

Great points Naveen. Handheld devices really are on the rise and that definitely changes things when it comes to video marketing, website development, etc.

And you’re so right about trying to create videos that suit people’s needs and problems! If a video isn’t helpful or entertaining to the viewer it’s not of much benefit to them.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by Naveen and I hope you have a fantastic week! :)

You are so right Amit about Youtube drawing a different crowd from traditional search engines. Videos really have their way of communicating with viewers more effectively than articles. That being said, articles definitely have their own benefits as well.

I’m glad you got some mind blowing ideas Amit, hope you can make a ton of money with them :)

    Hi Josh,

I think you can easily venture into the “Video blogging” domain. You can create your own videos about almost anything you like to talk about and just upload to youtube.

But, since you are focusing on surveys and making money online – then these focused topics would be a great idea.

Not only create a video for it but also write a blog post to promote it at the same time. Just embed to your post and get more views out of it at the same time.

I suppose, the possibilities are limitless when the right tools are combined!

In my own view, we can earn money in the course of this platform named YouTube if we are selling or teaching something.

There are many reasons I must comment, these 4 are just a few of them and I must say too that these are some big reasons too.

You can gain subscribers if your video is worth it. Well, it’s the value of your post still.
