51 Things To Do That Will Make Your Website Soar

Profile photo of darrellantonio Submitted by darrellantonio December 8, 2016

Good morning  everybody especially to my loyal readers (big cashers) it’s Darrell  back at you on a cold 33 degree Friday morning in Iowa.

For the last two weeks I have been getting lots of questions from new bloggers, intermediate bloggers and a lot of my friends who own businesses here in  Iowa.

All of them are looking for new ways to improve their websites.

This post is my attempt to combine all of the real world tips and some key strategies that that will definitely generate positive results if  applied correctly.

So Let’s Roll my first post in December is titled “51 Things to do that will Make Your Website Soar.”

eagle-

1. Post Frequently

Posting frequently can boost your search engine traffic. Updating with useful content will definitely build your audience.

Writing with search engine optimization in mind helps getting noticed and indexed by Google.

Neil Patel of  quicksprout found that posting high quality post 6x per week (as opposed to 5) blog traffic  increased by 18.6%.  Find your number you post and stick with it.

2. Images

Even babies don’t like books with no pictures. Images don’t just make your blog look pretty, they also help people find you in search engine listings. Humans are very visual must I say anymore.

3. Focus on long-tail keywords

The days of focusing on a single keyword for each page are long gone. Make sure your post include all the relevant terms and phrases related to your topic.

4. Focus your energy on strategies that are working

You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. Study your analytics to see your main  traffic drivers, and focus on your energy on these areas.

5. Ask a well-known blogger to guest post on your site

They will likely share the post with their audience, driving traffic to your site.

6. Submit Your Blog to Search Engines

It’s a must get on the radar for the two main search engines, Google and Yahoo by submitting your blog’s URL to them.

Most search engines provide a “submit” link (or something similar) to notify the search engine of your new blog,so those search engines will crawl it and include your pages in their results.

7. Feed Your Blog Content to Your Social Media Profiles

Use a tool like Twitterfeed to automatically publish links to your blog post on your  Twitter and Facebook profiles

Also take the time to set up your blog post to automatically publish on your Linked In, Google + and other social media profiles

8. Add “Follow Me ” Social Media Icons to Your Blog

Add social media icons to your blog’s sidebar writing people to connect with you on Twitter, Facebook and your other social media profiles.

If your blog content is fed to those accounts then you’ve created another way for people to access your content not actually visiting your blog.

9. Work on Your Headlines

Your headlines are what will get people in the door especially when you share your blog post on social media.

Make sure you spark interest and clearly articulate the benefit to your readers.

Read this helpful post  How to Write Headlines Like a Professional.

Use a tool like Tweetdeck , Hootsuite or another scheduling tool to automatically publish links to your blog post on multiple social media profiles at the same time.

16. Include Sharing Links on Your Blog  Post

Make it as easy as possible for people to share your blog posts on their Twitter profiles,Facebook profiles, Linked In profiles and so on by including share buttons.

For example the Retweet Button from Tweetmeme, and Sociable WordPress plugin provide easy ways.

    Hi Darrell,

Some great tips you’ve mentioned here in this post. I’m already doing about half of what you’ve mentioned. Incorporating everything is just so time-consuming and draining. However, I am grateful to know what the other half is I’ve been missing out on. Thank you so much for your tips. :)

    Hi darrellantonio
Great Tips Shared in this post!
Most of them i am following but at the same time few of them are still not known to me, those are indeed new information to me. for example tip # 48. Write a Response post, this is really worth trying, many a time if we respond to a post in retaliating to the writers opinion, generally it won’t see the light of day, but at the same time if we post a feedback like post on our page and intimate the concerned he or she may respond, its indeed a good idea and worth trying,
And of course we need to shout out about our resources thru different social media. This is a must to let known to the public.
Sharing in AllTop site is indeed another valuable thing one can do.
Getting into that platform is indeed a bit difficult task too.
Thanks for sharing many tips in one post.
    I am bookmarking it
    Best Regards
    Philip

    Hi DarellAntonio,

It’s finally starting to warm up here in New Jersey. It’s been in the 60s but a little rainy.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. There are many I never would have thought about. Especially the idea of creating a forum on your blog. This could really help you build relationships with your readers.

I also like the idea of writing for websites like the Huffington Post and the “Help A Reporter Out” Suggestion.

Keep up the great work my friend and I look forward to reading more posts.

    Take care,

    John

Hi Darrellantonio, great learning for all the tips your shared.

I just learned about Alltop from your post, and I just checked out the site. I wonder, do I need to have an established blog before I submit articles to the site?

I’m asking this because I see a few blogs I followed on the front page of Alltop, such as Copyblogger, ProBlogger, Seth Godin’s blog. These are blogs that have great contents. So I’m wondering would it be ok if I submit articles from my new blog.

Thanks again Darrellantonio, I’ve learned alot!

    Hi
That’s a comprehensive list of ways to get your blog posts noticed. I have not heard of Alltop before so I’ll especially check that one out.

My main take away is to be enthusiastically engaged with the niche one’s involved in and to especially connect at the places where peopple interested in that stuff hang out.

    Many thanks

I love lists like this. They are handy checklists for newbies, of course, but I like to pick: what’s my favourite?

And I think my favourite is #47. I think that the biggest mistake a lot of bloggers make is to try to follow some formula, rather than just being human with their audience.

It’s best to forget that you are writing and try to imagine speaking to a reader. That’s the human touch.

Really helpful post. I’ve been been creating websites for years, and it takes a lot of patience and can be rather frustrating at first.

You end up spending more time promoting your website than you do spending actual time on it.

Of course great content is always king. And you should always look to provide something maybe someone else isn’t quite doing, so in time your site stands out.

  • Profile photo of Valia Profile

    Such useful tips! Thanks, Darrellantonio!

I will definitely take into consideration all these 51 ideas.

Keep going, you’re doing really good job!

  • Profile photo of Tom Kimp Profile

    Wow Darrell,

You gave us 51 steps. That’s massive! Usually you except maybe 10 if you’re lucky.

How hard is it to get accepted by the way to websites like Huffington and Forbes? That would obviously give your website massive traffic.

Agree, with 41 a lot. Definitely write very short paragraphs otherwise you lose the reader.

I got to start submitting my blog to sites like Reddit and Stumble, too. Thanks for reminding me.

Thank you for this great article!

  • Profile photo of Lucy Anderson Profile

I have to ask though, are you using these 51 things to make yours soar? I notice your blog is not doing well at all. Is it that you are not following these tips yourself or am I missing something?

For instance, the first tip you gave is to post frequently but you haven’t posted any new content on your blog since March. It’s end of July now, which means you haven’t posted anything for 4 months.

    Great blog post as usual!

few littel gems in there for people to take away and take ACTION!

I am putting together a blog on Instagram where I have had some great free traffic from.

Well done cant wait for the next one!
