3 Methods You MUST Avoid In Making Money Online

Profile photo of rohan bhardwaj Submitted by rohan bhardwaj October 7, 2014

We all know why we are spending too much time online searching for various ways to earn money. Sometimes when you earn money, maybe a small amount, it triggers happiness as you think it is nice that at least you earned some money, but it shouldn’t be looked that way.

You are spending your precious time, electricity and energy, so any small earnings you earn will only reduce your loss by little amount.

Don’t worry at initial days, it might happen that you are online for 8 hours and all you were getting are some scam opportunities to earn online which resulted in simple failure.

Eventually you should be able to earn money in increasing amount which will show that you are on the right path.

Money-image

Below are the three methods you might encounter in your search for online making opportunities, and why you must avoid them. They are tricky and not for everyone. So, decide after some time whether they are worth investing time into.

1-HYIP

In one short advice, it is a no-go.

The concept is basically simple, you invest some money and interestingly you get some very high rate on returns. If you are lucky, you will get paid, and you might bring some referrals too.

Once they have gathered enough members, they shut down with no clue.

Their ip address is basically untraceable. And many people just move on as they had invested little amount, over there. Now, there is a second twist here. Many websites acting like they can recover money from them exist. But, their commission is usually high enough for anyone to go for it, as it is bigger than amount many have invested.

I am saying this from my own experience. They sounded legit, looked legit but they all are scam. Any HYIP which emerges only shuts down at some point of time scamming everyone.

Stay away for your own sake.

2- PTC or anything similar

Now this one is legit, but a time waster. Basically you need to view some ads, click on something, do some human verification task (so bots can pass by), view some videos, and all you get is some cents which doesn’t even add up to $1 for 1 hour.

Another interesting story here is they only have 5 minutes of work daily, so you need to work for more than 12 days and still not sure if you could have earned that $1. But, they payment threshold is like $5 or $10. The only way to earn from it is to refer like thousand people and hoping they do it everyday and so you earn something.

They are actually interested in you getting more members and thus you all do work and after sometime abandon them thus resulting in them being in huge profit.

Again it is from my experience, please stay away. Not really an opportunity.

Note: I did get paid like $3 in a span of 1 year, I worked less frequently, but still I worked more than just mere $3. Also there exists many scams also under this name where they offer like $10 per view, but they are simply scam. Stay away from both legit and scam.

3- Anything legit which asks for upfront money

Some legit opportunities could be find on freelancer.com or elance.com like writing, photoshop, web designing and many more.

They never ask money for joining them, they are free, you work and they act like law to make sure you get the money from the person who has assigned you work.

If you are contacted directly by someone who is willing to give you work, then ask for some cash to start work and then after full work, ask for full payment.

Companies offering positions like virtual assistant, writing jobs don’t ask for payment to join them. It is free 99 percent of the time. Some legit companies ask for payment for verifying your background, but that too is refundable. Such companies are basically one with huge brand and presence offline too.

So next time you need to pay a fee to join, any sort of fee, just pass on. You need not pay for employment.

Conclusion

These are the top three earning opportunities which often comes when we search for money making on the web. Simply stay away from such things, okay.

Singing off, hope you enjoyed and learnt something too.

Have you guys been through such experience. Anything more to add from your end?

Hello Rohan, thank you for the reminders. You’ve proven here that we should avoid these 3 methods in making money online. We don’t have to waste our time to make money in this kind of way. There are many options to choose from.

Writing, guest blogging, affiliate marketing, vlogging, designing and so much more. Odesk and Freelancer are two websites where we can find legit jobs.

Hi Metz, indeed the real opportunities the instant ones are out there in elance and odesk, freelancer. We as newbies often spend most of our time in all the wrong directions.

Affiliate marketing and vlogging are the long term jobs, which will give fruits with hard work but only if one is patient.

Nice to see your thoughts here Metz.

    Hi Rohan,
That was a fascinating revelation. The post is a warning shot for many who desire to make money only.

It is not “all money money” roads on the Internet can be trusted. Many lead to doom as the details of HYIP confirm.

Research is important before one takes a leap into trying to make money online. We can access legit sites by the value they offer us without making too much sacrifice before or after!

    Hello Rohan,

Can I speak a little bit more on HYIP? I for instance had intention of investing in one HYIP programme but I am someone who believes in this philosophy, ‘If something is too good hard to believe, give it a second thought’.

This HYIP had being online for more than 384 days so it seemed great but with the sort of returns, I decided to give it more time before I even commit a dollar to it.

As I write now, the program is no more and one thing is certain, many have certainly lost their money.
It is a nice thing raising the awareness here.

HYIP exists for too long now, many exists for more than three years now, but the thing is all ends with scamming millions of dollars when they close out.

The only people who earn money are quite few. Those who do eventually lose all their money when they re-invest because of their prior wrong belief.

Never go for HYIP, simple as that.

Stay secure. Sorry for late reply. :)

    Hi Rohan

Very much needed post. As soon as the demand for online money earning methods is rising, the number of scam companies is also rising at same pace.

They knw that they can easily befool the beginners; that is why newbie online marketers need to take extra care while venturing into any of this kind of project.

Three methods you specified here are always riskier in nature and evern pro type of marketers several time get duped into their trap. So one must be fully careful of them.

Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful post.

    • Profile photo of rohan bhardwaj Profile

It is indeed a very concerning situation that these days more scam companies are opening than legit ones in online world.

Many get fooled in such traps, one need to get past it and pass the knowledge so many others don’t get trapped into it. I did my bit.

Let us try to help many as we can. Sorry for the late reply. Take care.

    Hi Rohan,
HYIP can be risky to start with. I once joined a program and it was sold to another company after one month which was a complete mess. Luckily I didn’t go in much loss.
PTC programs on the other hand can be very rewarding in my opinion. One just needs to be patient and work with a proper strategy.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

    Hello Rohan,

Yes, there are many scams on the internet and you have to watch out for them daily. It is sad when people get scammed. They have places you can go to find about scams one is called rippoffreport.com. I have read people’s complaints and it is sad when you read that someone has got scammed out of their money.

You have to be wary when a company is asking for you to pay for work. That is definitely a red flag. Thanks for sharing this with us!

A nice summary of what to avoid when it comes to making money online. I have been working online for over 7 years now and I have been cheated by HYIP Programs, Wasted time on PTC sites, etc. But over the years I have gained experience on moved on to the right direction.

Blogging and affiliate marketing are the two best ways of earning money online. Freelance sites also pay well but for that you need to have a bit of professional skills.

You are right, it definitely is not worth it to join a PTC site where each click is only worth .001 cents per click, and the payout threshold is around 5 dollars. :(

There are some really great PTC programs out there with better paying clickthroughs with lower payout thresholds, but you have to look pretty hard in order to find them.

      Sorry for late reply buddy.

PTCs are the worst, some similar companies exists which pay for every action other than click too. You might be referring to this, I guess.

But, this will soon turn to no earnings as many offers doesn’t exists for developing countries.

Also in developed countries one don’t earn much. Stay awesome buddy.

    HI Rohan,

Thanks for sharing your fantastic article

Personally, I`m agreeing with you regarding your second point of view “2- PTC or anything similar”

Because honestly I have some bad experience with these kind of PTC Scams opportunities, I worked with one of them more than 6 months and invested $100 on upgrading my membership with them but unfortunately I lost everything upfront because the company shutdown overnight and forever.

Without any doubt These are the most big scams which face all the people who really desire to start their online business

    Hi Rohan

You are so right, there are many time and money waster online. At the beginning I did also some of these things but it was not worth.

The best way in my opinion is to get educated about how to build a real business online. To learn tasks like marketing, copywriting and some other things. Then you can sell whatever you want online.

To me, there are more scams than there are real opportunities to make money. That’s why you have to be selective.

The moral of the story: Work hard, do your due diligence, and treat people the way you would like to be treated.

There is money to be made in any field. You just have to understand that you can’t if it’s all about shortcuts for you.

    Hello Rohan,

I agree with you on the first place to avoid. HYIP is a disease to internet, all it is meant for is to scam people of their hard earned money, I know a friend who lose most his earnings to HYIP.
However about PTC. I must say some PTC are changing the way they do things, some seem to be working nowadays, Let me not mention name, but i know that some pay pretty well and have been existing long time without necessary depend on clicking ads to earn big. But depending solely on PTC to earn is not the best way to make money online though

      Hey hi buddy,

You are correct. HYIP is indeed the waste of time and money. No one should ever get involved in that.

Hmm…some PTCs might pay in the long run, as you suggested relying soley on them is not the good chocie.

As long as we work in the right direction and keep learning, we will explore new opportunities to earn.

Yes, yes, I know some rich quick scheme like that. Honestly, I’ve also used it to see how far I would have taken.

But, I am aware that there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme. If anyone offers to you that you will get a lot of money just by doing very little work, most likely it is a scam.

Life is not that easy! 😆

Because aware of it, then I do not want to become a victim from their schemes. I do not lose anything from these though. 😉

This basically true! I had past experience with 2 of this above methods about two years ago. I registered with an HYIP program(forgotten the link) which requires just to login in order to earn points and one can also refer people and was a dedicated user for lots of months!
Just as i reached the threshold and wanted to happily withdraw my earnings, i was unable to. The same happens for No #2 using the website search engine for ppc and survey really sucks – before you can earn $1, it’ll take almost a week -.
Concerning freelancing and elance, without having participate.. I’d had trust in them that they’ll be okay. Though i have register with them long before now but hadnt yet tried them out

Thanks for pointing out the fact that their are no easy roads to wealth on the internet. Every program you encounter makes enormous claims so due diligence is always the best policy. It only takes a minute to do a google inquiry with the product name and the word scam. If you want to make consistent money online you have to learn and being scammed is great learning experience. Practice due diligence, put in the work. Thanks for the warning Rohan I hope it will prevent some inexperienced marketers from making that mistake.

    Rohan,

This is a good post. The fact remains that when people want someone for nothing or want to make easy money, they will always be taken for a ride. If money was easy to make everyone would be rich. There’s no short-cut to making money. You must pay the price if you want to make money.

The biggest one is the PTC and the most people taking for a ride are those who are advertising on the site hoping to get traffic that will buy from them. It’s both a waste of time for those buying ads and those clicking on ads.

Thanks for the reminder and I think this will really help many people who are looking for free and easy ways to make money fast online.

Making money online requires adequate time, commitment and a solid plan.
