    Hello Carol,

This is a wonderful post and informative too……..!!!

Your first point is main perception behind loving and running own online business. Every person have dream to start his/her own business and become a successful businessmen.

Everyone have different ideas, creativity as well as knowledge but many times he/she can’t get proper platform or chance to explore it since you are only employee not owner.

Your article shares precise reasons which attracts everyone to start their own online business.

      Hi Gangadhar,

I’m so glad you enjoyed the post.

Yes, many have a dream of having an online business, and go on to make this a reality and do quite well.

Still many others fail miserably because they refuse to understand the amount of work involved and time and resources.

It’s not for everyone just like not everyone can be a doctor…

I see many people come and go and the ones with serious goals, strong work ethics and the wherewithal to find a good business model and plan usually do very well.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts here, and want to wish you a lovely day.

    Hi Carol,

Great article! I love that you highlight so many benefits. Among them is the fact that I can measure it much more effectively than I could a traditional brick-and-mortar.

However, sine my company is web design and development and coaching (business, website strategy, and digital strategies) I get the best of both worlds. I interact with businesses both large and small and it’s extremely rewarding and fun for me.

Plus, I plan to start speaking again in the very near future. That has me really excited!!!

With that said, while the start-up costs are very affordable, the competition is also very high. I find myself working almost six or seven days per week. It’s a Sunday afternoon and here I am interacting with you. Now, I LOVE it. But the person who doesn’t or isn’t willing to take the time to “build” their business is going to struggle.

The Internet does not sleep and neither do hard working people like us if we have an opportunity to make a difference for somebody and their business; and for ourselves.

I really love your articles and appreciate your perspective. I just recently met Ryan and I look forward to getting to know him and his work better.

      Hi Don,

Glad you enjoyed my article – and thanks for adding your experience about being able to measure more effectively – that’s a great point.

How wonderful that you’re enjoying your business and find it rewarding and fun – that’s the way it ought to be! :)

Congrats on having plans to enter into the speaking arena – that’s wonderful.

Yes, it does take sacrifice in the beginning, I can definitely attest to that.

As soon as possible, though, I recommend outsourcing things in your business that you don’t have to do. I have a small team, and it is so nice to be able to focus on the high-leverage activities and focus on growing my business.

I have a different perspective about not sleeping… I do plenty of that and take time off also to refresh my body and soul and recharge my creative juices.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but taking time off from my business really helps to grow my business and stay sharp clarity-wise and also in the area of innovation.

So happy you met Ryan – great guy! He’s living a life that most people only dream about. He’s worked hard to follow his dreams and is now enjoying the fruits of his labor.

Don, I really appreciate you stopping by to share your ideas and add value here. I know you’re busy, and I certainly don’t take this lightly – so thank you very much.:-)

I so appreciate you sharing my content – so very kind of you! Thanks!

      Hey Tommie,

We know you might mean well, but PLEASE stop leaving short comments that are obviously done in a hurry. They contain errors and look like desperate attempts to increase comments’ count.

MOST of the comments you have today left:

      are too short
      done in a hurry
      have structural errors
      have grammatical errors,
are not valuable and add nothing helpful
are done without really reading the blog posts

    Hi Carol,

You have written, yet another brilliant post. Online business is something, everyone aims for, but only few accomplishes.

The secret is to do the hard work, and enjoy the sidekick one gets while doing so. Having the liberty to work anytime, shouldn’t be mingled with laziness.

Definitely sky is the potential one think of opportunities of earning money. Online business with the auto pilot on, is the best thing to happen.

Ryan Biddulph definitely is an inspiration to many and me too. I, too wish to do the same, live across the globe while maintaining the blogging business.

Hard work is the basic ingredient one need, and I got it. Thanks for sharing this Carol.

      Hi Rohan,

Thanks for the kind words – much appreciated! You are right about that– many people try to make it online and have the idea that it’s quick and easy and that they can make thousands of dollars with the push of a button.

I couldn’t agree more that the secret is to do the hard work. A real business always takes a lot of hard work to get up and running initially and to actually grow it into a successful thriving business.

The only limitations are those that we place on ourselves, Very true.

So glad you and Ryan know each other– yes he’s an awesome guy living his dream, and is an inspiration to many.

    Hey Carol,

Now this post really resignated with me!

You’ve said all the reasons why having an online business is great and actually why I love it. I think these reasons fall under the umbrella of freedom. And I do have to say that using Ryan Biddulph is the perfect example of freedom. He’s traveling everywhere while making money doing the things he love to do which is blogging.

What more can you ask for?

I love the fact that you can be your own boss overall.. I do have to tell you my simple and yet powerful reason why I started an online business. I want to be able to go to starbucks and read a book not worrying about going pass the time I need to go back to work. That’s freedom to me. Doing the things you want you love to do with a peace of mind!

Thanks for sharing and I hope you’re having a great week!

    • Profile photo of Carol Amato Profile

      Hi Sherman,

I am so glad that my article registered with you–my mission was accomplished. :-)

Absolutely! Freedom, freedom, freedom– That’s what it’s all about. Yes, Ryan is a great guy and living his dream every day.

His pictures are stunning and his smile is contagious – he’s happy for sure. That’s exactly right – what more could you ask for?

You and me both– being our own boss is the best thing isn’t it?

Freedom in time, as you mentioned, it is so wonderful and gives a sense of control and peace like nothing else– I love being my own boss and deciding when I work and when I don’t. Of course, certain things dictate if I have appointments and such, but moving to a model of complete freedom is the goal.

Some of the downsides are having self-discipline on a continual basis and having enough structure whereby to accomplish your goals. I think this is accomplished through trial and error, and maturity.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, Sherman, I know you’re busy, and I just want to say I appreciate it.

    Hi Carol,

You are absolutely right in all that you mentioned :)

It makes sense to have your own online business or blog and work from home. Being your own boss is the best thing about it, and being moms or work from home, we have the freedom to take work and take care of our families, so that really helps a great deal, isn’t it? I realized all of this once I left my full time job and started working from home and there’s been no looking back, nor any regret.

Yes, you need to follow a proper routine or time table to maintain the right work-life balance and if you can do that, you are on the right track. Most people tend to slacken in this regard, so it becomes an uphill task for them, while those who strike a balance, work their way to success.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead :)

But you said the truth about having an online business is a most lovely thing. As we know, we don’t need to be tired to manage the online business as we tire in managing the offline business.

The things you listed here are reasonable. Because nowadays, it is more difficult in making offline business. We need much money and efforts to build it. Hi Carol,

These are some of the most significant things to love about having your own business and these things are what many people want to achieve in life. I think one benefit of having your own online business, or any business is that you will WANT to put more work into it, due to the fact that it is something you created. When it’s your property, you tend to care for it better. An online business does allow you to be creative and do whatever you want and I just love that. Any business can be hard though and I think people should strive to make a business that can be ran by someone else and we still profit. Good post!

I couldn’t agree more! That’s exactly right – we want to put more into it because it’s our own creation, our own business, and we are in control of how well we do. No ceilings, no caps – which is something I love.

The flexibility in creating what you desire and building any avenue of income stream you choose is truly amazing, and I’m so glad to be part of this industry. The sky truly is the limit. On the down side, we can limit ourselves too.

Yes, I agree – outsourcing certain things really does make sense so we can concentrate on using our strengths to propel our business forward.

In top of article you written, i also agree with you that the main benefit of on-line business is you are the BOSS. it depends on how much focus and time you want to give your work.

But it is also a truth that everyone cant stand a good business.if you want to be success in online you really need much hard work on it. you need more focusing on your work also.

I love how you put it and so many points ring a bell to me. Being the boss and the freedom to express creativity are such great opportunities offered by online businesses. Thank you for sharing and this does motivate me to work even harder to make my online business sustainable for long time.

Sure having an online business has a lot of advantages but there are also some crucial points behind. For example, you greatly rely on your laptop and internet connection. Another issue is cyber threats and security.

But still, having an online business is a Huge Plus. As Bill Gates said ” If your business is not online, soon you will be out of business”

Hope it does not happens for anyone of us :)
Thanks for summing up all 10 points for us.

Too bad I don’t have Disqus account. Anyway, I will post comment here instead of there.

Whatever you prefer. I prefer engagement on my own domain, however.

I’ve never in my life allowed a comment system to prevent me from connecting with a like-minded entrepreneur on their own turf. Am a bit surprised to be completely honest.

Disqus is a very common commenting system and high quality too, I did a post on why I switched here:

Anyway, free account takes two minutes to get, add your name and URL to your website. Having a Disqus profile with your site listed is a good thing, trust me.

Love the backlink, social sharing of comments (if great) and best of all, the huge amount of traffic I get when folks loop back around to check on the response to their comment because they get an auto notification in their Inbox – very powerful stuff.

Anyway, I moved away from CommentLuv a long time ago because I wanted to stop attracting link droppers and up the quality of folks commenting.

      Have a blessed day. :-)

  • Sure
Spam Comments can be a great reasons for dropping commentLuv. I would try to stick with it for sometime, see if it goes Ok for me.

There are some negative reviews about Disqus too, such as they sell their users’ information to 3rd parties and all that stuff.

But using Disqus to stop spam comments is sure a great solution. :)
    Thanks for the information.
